Do you have a Demo Video?
In my experience, and based on the type of DJ service I provide, a demo video will not really serve a practical purpose. Each wedding that I assist with is truly tailored to the needs of the individual customer. Meeting over the telephone and in person serves a far more effective purpose for me than a series of video samples that may or may not be what you are looking for. Also, I have seen videos that were produced with less than spectacular results. These don’t put the DJ in the best light, nor do they represent the job he or she can provide.
Plus here’s something that some DJs won’t reveal: some demo videos incorporate purchased “stock footage” which are not true representations of the actual performance by the DJ you are hiring. Another ugly truth is that, unless the DJ has paid the appropriate fees to receive specific permission from the artists and labels for the music in the demo videos, he is violating copyright law. Contrary to popular belief, there is no minimum portion of licensed music that may be used for commercial purposes without permission of the copyright owners. There are thousands of websites that contain unlicensed material, but mine is not going to be one of them.
Can
I come to see a performance?
Occasionally I am hired for an event that is open to the general public. The
vast majority of my customers, however, are hosting private parties. As such,
I cannot invite you on their behalf. Imagine strangers showing up at your
wedding or party. Plus, the service that I provide is absolutely not a one-size-fits-all.
Seeing one appearance will not necessarily reflect the type of music or style
of performance that you may want for your event.
I have taken care to include real testimonials from very real customers. Also,
upon request, I can offer references. In most instances, telephone and “in
person” meetings can be arranged prior to any booking.
What areas do you serve?
Under normal circumstances, I’ll travel just about anywhere
in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, eastern Connecticut and southern New Hampshire
(I have even worked as far north as Maine.) Special arrangements can be made
for travel beyond this area. You can see a map showing some of the places I have worked by clicking here.
How much do you charge?
My rates are competitive, generally falling near the middle of the price scale.
I will provide a specific quote based on your event. See the pricing page for more information.
Can we provide some of our
own music?
Absolutely. My library is extensive, but no one can have everything.
I do suggest that before bringing anything, check in with me. I just may have
it.
Can we keep specific songs from being played?
It’s your event. You decide if there is something that
you don’t want to hear. The only suggestion I will make is to consider
your guests; refusing to play a guest’s request because you have included
it on the “do not play” list can make them feel left out or disappointed.
Do you offer Karaoke?
No.
Do you do Bar/Bat Mitzvahs or children’s parties?
I do not offer games, props, party motivators or dancers, nor am I children’s party entertainer. If this is what you are looking for in your DJ, I would suggest that there are many others who would be better suited to your needs. If, however, you need a professional to play family friendly music at your celebration, I would be happy to discuss the details with you.
What type of sound system
do you use?
Only pro audio gear is used: Mackie 450SRM Loudspeakers, Behringer Pro Mixer, Shure and Audio-Technica Wired and Wireless
Microphones.
