I can't provide you with an exact quote without first knowing your specific needs. In most cases, my fee for providing DJ and MC services at a wedding reception ranges between $1,200.00 and $1,500.00, which includes not only service on the day of the wedding, but also all travel, set-up and breakdown time, plus all pre-wedding planning and consultation that may be needed along the way. Conservatively speaking, I'll typically spend from 12 to 25 hours (and sometimes much more) on what the customer sees as a four or five hour reception.
Several factors will affect your actual quote including the month of your wedding, the day of the week, the number of hours, location, amount of equipment needed, and whether I am providing music for the ceremony as well as reception. I can promise you that once I am provided with the details of your day, I will provide you a clearly stated, all inclusive, no-haggle price.
Experience tells me that my best customer is one who is primarily interested in the quality of the services that I provide, rather than how much I charge. If your first priority is the lowest price, I will not be the best choice for you. I offer my clients the highest quality, not the cheapest price. My services are an excellent value — because my skills, dedication and personalized service will make a difference that you'll notice from our first communication until we shake hands and say goodbye after your last dance. After your reception, your friends and family may or may not remember how the centerpieces looked or what the appetizers were — but they will remember how great the music was and how much fun they had. It's something I'm proud to say that I hear time and time again from my customers.
As with weddings, different types of parties have different requirements, so again, I don't provide a flat "per hour" rate on the website. An upscale retirement party, for example, isn't going to be priced the same as a backyard barbecue or pool party. I provide a customized quote for every inquiry, and I am unable to do that without knowing the details of your event. In most cases, my fee for providing DJ services at a party ranges between $400.00 and $1,000.00.
Factors that will affect the quote will be date, time, location and number of hours, as well as the particular needs of the client.
The same high level of dediction to customer service goes into every job, whether it is a wedding or the most casual party. I do everything I can to make the experience as fun and stress-free as possible.
I absolutely believe in giving back to the community and am pleased to work with several worthwhile organizations for which I volunteer significant time. For those that I don't already have a relationship with, I will offer a reduced rate for charitable organizations, depending on the time required and availability.
In a word, "No."
I believe in being upfront in everything I do in this business. Once the customer has provided sufficient information, the quote that they receive from me represents what I believe to be the real, fair value of my services.
I never upsell, never artificially inflate the price because I think I can get away with it, never lowball a competitor by a few dollars to steal his or her business, and am never anything other than straightforward with a prospective customer.
If someone is willing to do any of those things, you have to ask yourself how honestly you are being dealt with and how much integrity they have. And since "trust" is such a core component of this business — you have to trust that the vendors you hire will produce the results they promise and that you expect — it's an important question to ask.
